‘House Of Cards’ Offers July 4th Message From The New President Underwood

‘House of Cards’ has a July 4th message from the new president

Netflix has unveiled an Independence Day promo for the sixth and final season of House of Cards.

Embedded above, you'll see President Claire Underwood (Wonder Woman alum Robin Wright) address the nation in honor of America's Independence Day, where she wishes a happy July 4th... to herself. Claire isn't just "free" in the sense that Americans are free, but rather free from the destructive influence and bidding of Frank Underwood for the first time in many, many years.

In the show's storyline, Claire replaced Spacey's character Frank Underwood as the president at the conclusion of the program's fifth season, as he had a scheme to hold on to his power.

Raymond Felton Agrees Upon One-Year, $2.4M Deal With Thunder
Felton proved a consistent performer off the bench in relief of Russell Westbrook for short stretches. He has been a popular teammate and is considered a strong part of the team's good chemistry.

But there's a little more subtext than that: the teaser is a bold nod to Spacey's firing from the show a year ago following a string of sexual harassment and abuse allegations made against him.

The new, abbreviated eight-episode season of House Of Cards includes major cast additions Diane Lane, Greg Kinnear and Cody Fern. The series also brings back Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Academy Award nominee Patricia Clarkson, Emmy Award Nominee Constance Zimmer, Derek Cecil, Campbell Scott and Boris McGiver in the sixth and final season.
