The France global, who is in Russian Federation for the World Cup, joined Monaco in 2015 from Caen and made his worldwide debut in November 2016.

Atletico Madrid reached a deal in principle to sign France global Thomas Lemar from Monaco on Tuesday.

Multiple people within Antoine Griezmann's inner circle say they want him to stay at Atletico Madrid rather than join Barcelona next season, sources close to the forward told ESPN FC's Julien Laurens.

Atletico Madrid ace Antoine Griezmann has declared he's made a decision about his future - but will not announcement it.

Griezmann insists he is made a decision on his club future but has refused to reveal if he will remain with Atletico next season.

Griezmann is expected to announce his future before his nation's World Cup campaign begins against Australia on Saturday.

After announcing a press conference for Tuesday afternoon, it seemed that he was set to announce where he will play next season, only to opt against it.

Should he make the switch, Griezmann would add further star power to an attack that already includes Messi, Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele.

The 22-year-old France worldwide has been subject of interest from Arsenal and Liverpool among others, but he now appears destined for a move to La Liga. Some reports had pointed to Lemar's arrival as a key factor in whether Griezmann would return to the club or leave for Barcelona this summer.

Lemar has scored 22 goals in 123 games for Monaco and helped them win Ligue 1 and reach the Champions League semi-finals in 2016-17.
