Xherdan Shaqiri insists that he cannot say anything about his future yet, despite claims he could move to Liverpool, while Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton have also been linked with holding an interest in him.

Shaqiri started in Switzerland's 2-0 win over Japan on Friday - their final match before they kick-off their World Cup campaign.

The World Cup winger arrived at Stoke in the summer of 2015 intent on reviving his career in the hope of eventually earning a move to a Champions League club, so it is ironic his dream could be about to come true as a result of Stoke's relegation.

"I want players who are committed to Stoke City".

Now, today, the Bleacher Report's Dean Jones claims that the Reds have met with Shaqiri's representatives for talks about signing the 26-year-old.

When asked what he though about Liverpool as a club he responded by laughing and asking the interviewer why he was talking about Liverpool.

The Stoke City winger will head to Russian Federation with his national team this week, with the Swiss set to take on Brazil, Costa Rica and Serbia in Group E of the tournament.

Shaqiri told Blick, as translated by The Mirror, when asked about Liverpool: "I can't tell you anything right now, I think my agents take care of my future".

Liverpool FC have already completed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Fabinho this summer from Monaco as Klopp looks to build a team capable of winning the Premier League next season.

"I am focusing on the national team right now".
