There is a so-called "R-rated girl gang" movie in the pipeline, Birds of Prey, centred around Robbie's Harley Quinn. Joaquin Phoenix is already set to play the Joker (reportedly) in that above-mentioned 1980's set origin film, but as it will be under what Variety is terming an "origins" banner, it will be firmly set outside of the continuity of the mainline DCU on film.
