RED Hydrogen One is coming to AT&T and Verizon 'later this summer'

At least now RED has unveiled which carriers will sell the phone — Verizon and AT&T. AT&T has only said the smartphone will be offered "later this summer", while Verizon just says before the end of 2018.

Retailing at over $1,000, the Hydrogen One smartphone from RED will be a 'mobile game changer'.

In case you're unfamiliar, the RED Hydrogen One is an, ambitious, Android smartphone which was announced previous year.

The built-in 4-View holographic display is like 3D without having to use 3D glasses and is paired with multi-dimensional surround sound, industrial design elements and expansion capabilities that will allow users to swap in series of modules with various optional handset features.

Another detail missing from the carriers' announcements is how much you can expect to pay for the Hydrogen One. Studios in Los Angeles on June 2-3.

That news is an important vote of confidence in Red's technology, suggesting that the company believes it has the potential to become a viable channel for content.

We don't have an exact release date for the RED Hydrogen One, but Verizon says it will be available "later this year". Only AT&T is giving the public a first look at the future of entertainment through a demo at AT&T SHAPE at Warner Bros. An aluminum version of the phone had a pre-order price of $1,295, while a titanium version was listed at $1,595.

A recent report from PC Mag described some specs of the Hydrogen One. While it is capable of displaying standard 2D images, the Hydrogen will have a unique and revolutionary 4-View mode with the ability to "look around, below, and into" the screen image. The biggest takeaway from Brownlee's video of the Hydrogen One prototype, though, may be how big the phone is. "Unlocked" Pre-orders will however ship before that".
